SSL proxies

SSL web proxies are (generally) more secure than other web proxies as when you visit a SSL website starting with https:// rather than http:// the traffic between your computer and the SSL proxy is encrypted. This means that anybody "listening in" on the traffic between your computer and the proxy will see only encrypted data. In firewalled environments this often means that the firewall cannot detect that you're using a proxy, so will not block access to it.
